Due to the fact that my work is now customer oriented I have possibilities to see more environments and learn new things. Quite recently I was working with customer and we wanted to see DCUI - **Direct Console User Interface**.

## Prerequisites

Fortunately for us we don't have to do much. We just need to enable two services on ESXi - DCUI and SSH. Click on **Host and Clusters**, than select your ESXi host. Select Manage tab and click on Settings and Security Profile.

Start **Direct Console UI** and **SSH** services.

Next step is to simply login via any SSH client to your ESXi host.

Simply type **dcui** in shell and click Enter.

To login hit **F2** on your keyboard and you can login using normal credentials to your host.

In order to leave **DCUI** simply hit **CTRL+C**.
